1. Preliminary Remarks

Subscriptions can be canceled in a variety of ways in the Merchant Backend. However, the cancellation options can only be selected under certain conditions. A cancellation can also be withdrawn under certain circumstances.
This entry describes all the cancellation options and their behavior for both time-based and issue-based subscriptions.

2. Cancellation Options - Time-Based Subscriptions

In the case of time-based subscriptions, the following can generally be said about cancellation withdrawal: If a partial cancellation is carried out because the accounting period is longer than the subscription interval (e.g. with an accounting period of one year and a subscription interval of one month), the cancellation can no longer be withdrawn. An exception applies to Cancel now - in this case a partial cancellation is not automatically carried out. If this is desired, the corresponding invoice must first be canceled.

  • Cancel Regularly
The subscription will be canceled at the earliest possible date. The notice period is taken into account.
If the accounting period is longer than the subscription interval, the customer will be refunded the remaining amount, but the cancellation can no longer be withdrawn.
If the accounting period is the same as the subscription interval, the cancellation can be withdrawn, as no partial cancellation is carried out.

  • Cancel at Given Date
This option is only available if future subscription intervals are still pending.
The cancellation dates that can be selected are based on the notice period.
If the accounting period is longer than the subscription interval, the customer will receive a refund of the remaining amount. In this case, the cancellation cannot be withdrawn.

  • Complaisance Cancellation
This cancellation option is only available in the following circumstances:
- If the accounting period is longer than the subscription interval.
- If the accounting period is longer than one year.
- If the accounting period and the subscription interval are longer than one month.
The notice period is not taken into account. Due to the partial cancellation, the cancellation can no longer be withdrawn.

  • Cancel Now
The subscription is canceled immediately. The notice period is not taken into account and the cancellation cannot be withdrawn.
The customer will not receive a refund of the remaining amount.

3. Cancellation Options - Issue-Based Subscriptions

  • Cancel on Issue Level
The subscription ends after publication of the selected issue. The cancellation date, which can be selected, is based on the publication date from the corresponding delivery list.
The notice period is always taken into account. As the customer has already paid in advance when purchasing the issue-based subscription, the remaining amount will be refunded. Due to the partial cancellation, however, the cancellation can no longer be withdrawn afterwards.

  • Cancellation at the End of Accounting Period
The subscription is canceled regularly. The accounting period is the number of issues defined in the product contract.
The notice period is always taken into account. As this cancellation option does not involve a partial cancellation, the cancellation can be withdrawn.

  • Cancel Now
The subscription is canceled immediately. The notice period is not taken into account.
The invoice is not automatically canceled, which is why the customer does not receive a refund of the remaining amount. Cancellation cannot be withdrawn.
